Our planet is awash in the gentle light and shadow of an impenetrable Mystery; it is time, in spite of all our vaunted learning and might, to kneel at the rim of the abyss of our profound unknowing.

takes hold of the smallest thing

Each thing—
each stone, blossom, child—
is held in place.
Only we, in our arrogance,
