We Return

Restorying the Heroine’s Journey at Rolling Ridge
June 3-5, 2022
Friday 5 pm supper - Sunday lunch
Rolling Ridge Study Retreat

June 3-5, 2022

“Bone by bone, hair by hair, Wild Woman comes back…

She comes back through story.”

Clarissa Pinkola Estes

After years of being apart, we invite women to come together once again on sacred land to recollect ourselves in this threshold time between what has been and what may yet unfold. Join Lindsay McLaughlin, Julie Gabrielli, Lisa Bardack, and Katy Gaughan for a weekend’s immersion following the Heroine’s Journey deep into the heart of the Sacred Feminine and the animate Earth. Participate in guided circles of story and ceremony, dance, drumming, and council. Go for wanders in the forest looking for what is in danger of being lost (our scattered bones), and listening for guidance for ourselves and for our community: the wisdom whispered by stream and oak, stone and hawk, squirrel, fox, turtle--all the wild inhabitants of the thousand special acres called Rolling Ridge.

Rolling Ridge is 1400 acres of protected land nestled between the Appalachian Trail and the Shenandoah River. Trails wander through the forest, over stony brooks and yes, under the oaks, maples, tulip poplars, and many others who make their home here. The Retreat House is a lovely and simple cabin in the woods, a shared space with kitchen, dining area, living room and enough bedrooms to sleep up to 14. Camping is also an option.

Leaders: Lindsay, Julie, Lisa, and Katy bring years of dedicated learning, practice, mentoring, and leadership in retreats, dance, and drumming. We share a fascination with the power of story to heal, reconnect, and recreate our world.

Retreat begins at 5 pm on Friday (supper included) and ends after lunch on Sunday.

Cost (include six meals, lodging and program):

  • $375 - Single room
  • $325 - Two women registering together and choosing to share a room may pay a reduced fee of $325 each.
  • $300 - Camping further reduces the fee to $300 (bring your own tent).

Quote of the Day

Nothing has the potential to move us off dead center quite as powerfully as unexpected encounters in nature. From the meadows to the mountaintops, from the devoted pet to the flight of the bumblebee--the ways that nature nurtures us bring tears to our eyes and resolve to our hearts. And we are often brought into the place of allowing the spirit to finally get through to us. The possibilities are endless--the motion of the tides, the cleansing of a rainstorm, the dormancy of winter--all remind us that a force greater than ourselves turns the clock of this universe. Nature immerses us in that power.

~ from HOW CAN I LET GO IF I DON'T KNOW I'M HOLDING ON by Linda Douty
