RRSRC Annual Labor Day Work Retreat

Can work together be a retreat?
September 2, 2013
10 am - 4 pm Monday
Rolling Ridge Study Retreat Center, Harpers Ferry WV

We joyfully invite you to join with the Rolling Ridge Study Retreat staff community for our annual labor day work retreat.

Can work together be a retreat?

We think so. That's why we often end this day of shared work with more energy and joy than when we began. As we work through the day, we are restored with good conversations, reconnection with others who love this land, a simple shared meal from the Rolling Ridge garden, singing together in the Retreat House, and the delight of stretching and moving our bodies in new ways.

Shared work can be prayer together and a time that renews our soul. Join us at the Retreat House for this special day. Bring your work gloves and boots, and don't forget a joyful heart. We will provide a retreat house that needs to be cleaned, trails that need to be cleared, fire wood that needs to be cut, and land that needs to be loved.

Invite your friends. Please let us know if you are planning to come. You can call or e-mail us at the address given below.

Please RSVP via e-mail to Lindsay at lindsay.rollingridge@gmail.com or phone her at 304-724-1069 and let her know when you will plan to arrive, and whether you would like to come the afternoon before and spend the night in the Retreat House. Lunch will be provided.

Quote of the Day

One night, a full moon watched over me like a mother. In the blue light of the Basin, I saw a petroglyph on a large boulder. It was a spiral. I placed the tip of my finger on the center and began tracing the coil around and around. It spun off the rock. My finger kept circling the land, the lake, the sky. The spiral became larger and larger until it became a halo of stars in the night sky above Stansbury Island. A meteor flashed and as quickly disappeared. The waves continued to hiss and retreat, hiss and retreat.
In the West Desert of the Great Basin, I was not alone.
~ Terry Tempest Williams in REFUGE
