Beginning Advent

December 2-3, 2006
Saturday 5:30 pm - Sunday 2:00 pm
Retreat House

As the holy season of Advent begins, come away for soul-nourishment amidst the stillness and natural beauty of Rolling Ridge's mountain retreat. Take this little bit of time apart from a culturally busy holiday month to quiet your mind and body, rekindle your heart's deepest longing, and open anew to the profound gift and promise of God With Us. This retreat will flow naturally from the 24-hour retreat on "Seeking Beauty." You are invited to join us for that retreat in its entirety which begins Friday at 7 pm. Or else come join us for the closing/beginning dinner Saturday night at 5:30 pm. Our formal Advent program will conclude with lunch on Sunday, though you can stay longer into the afternoon to pray, hike, or just sit in front of the fire. The cost for Beauty Retreat participants is an additional $15; Advent Retreat only is $25.

For more information and to register contact Vivian at vvatrr@juno.com or phone at 304-725-4172.

Led by Rachelle Lyndaker Schlabach and Trish Stefanik.

Quote of the Day

We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us. Our flesh-and-bone tabernacle seems transparent as glass to the beauty about us, neither old nor young, sick or well, but immortal. I am a captive. I am bound. Love of pure unblemished Nature seems to overmaster and blur out of sight all other objects and consideration... As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers, and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.
